Tuesday Slice: Limbo dancing

One week
since the
announcement and
there's still
no word
on whether
I'll be
pulled from
the circulation
desk, so
I inch
forward with
my library
tasks, the
books and
orders and
cataloging and
teacher materials
hoping that
each day
is confirmation
that I
will get
to stay.

  1. A limbo is the perfect metaphor. A step, a bend, trying to keep balanced. My fingers are crossed that you get to stay. Librarians, to me, are the music of the dance. They add such life to a school.

  2. Oh, no! Are they talking about eliminating the position entirely? Hoping it works out for you!

  3. I can feel the tension of not knowing in your short poem. I can also feel the desire that you have to stay and serve kids and staff books and recommendations and conversation around books. Here’s to soon knowing and staying!

  4. Not knowing is worse that knowing. The building of tension...the uncertainty...the waiting. Here's hoping all works out well for you and that you will be able to continue helping students in the library.

  5. I know this feeling. I hope the news comes soon, and it is the news you want.

  6. As Tom Petty says, "The Waiting is the Hardest Part." I love how you captured it in the poem, and I hope you find out soon.

  8. This is so frustrating. I'm hoping that continuing on is the best bet, but it certainly doesn't help with having enough time to prepare well. Sigh...

  9. Oh, Chris, I'm hoping for the best for you and especially your students, who need a librarian! Peace in the waiting.

  10. Chris, I have been thinking of you since your SJT message. Waiting is difficult. May you find peace during this process because fretting increases anxiety.
