SOLSC '16 Day Thirteen: Barcodes on a book

I had a natural disaster dream this morning.  This one involved an incoming storm of some kind, maybe a tornado. I was at work, but the building and students and most of my colleagues were not the same as my waking life.  We were calmly going around this school that looked more like a house, shutting curtains, moving breakables off the walls, getting kids to hunker down in a blanket fort (?).  Some of the breakables were pretty glass plates in the shapes of owls, my favorite animal.

In the midst of all this activity, I reached for a door and noticed the side of the doorjamb was torn off, and I could see between the walls.  Stuffed between the studs were two library books.  I pulled them out and checked the barcodes. They were from my library, books that had been missing for a couple of weeks.  I showed them to my library assistant, and we shook our heads over yet another unusual place our library books are found.

Dreaming of barcodes...I'm thinking spring break is right on time.  No barcodes for a week!

  1. Dreams always make me wonder. How did my brain do that?

    1. I know; tornadoes and blanket forts and glass owls and library books--quite an unusual mix!

  2. What a dream, pretty fantastic, and don't you wonder why it appeared? Love that last part about the books!

    1. This has been the first job in education that I've had that I haven't said out loud "I am SO ready for spring break!" My subconscious must know better, though!

    1. At least from dealing with missing books! Time to read 'em, not hunt for them, ha!

  4. I know what you mean about knowing you're in a familiar place, but it doesn't look like it does in real life.

I hate the dreams/nightmares that start to come up in late August. The worst.

Last night I had a weird dream about driving to work. It was still dark out, and all of a sudden, on the last road before I turn into the parking lot, a student crossed the road, stopped in the middle, and turned to face me, like he wanted to get hit. Strange.

    1. Yikes! That sounds like the beginning of a horror film.

I get anxiety dreams in August, too, though they have become much less anxious since I became a librarian. While this job is not without stress, it is so much more suited to my nature that I don't tend to have bad dreams about it.
